Encore Family Theatreworks offers a place for families to simply have fun together on a stage as well as for those who are interested in developing specific theatre arts skills. We offer a wide range of classes that are designed for those who just want to be on a stage to those who wish to pursue theatre arts as a career.


Family Theatre
Some of us love to sing, others love to act, still others want to dance. Here’s an opportunity to realize your fantasy and perform on a stage! This class was conceived with families in mind, but all are welcome! Members of this class will have the opportunity to develop whatever performing interest they have. Anything that can be performed on a stage is fair game! Dancing, acting, singing, playing an instrument, magic, stand-up comedy, radio plays, circus, improvisation and any other performance art form will be welcomed. As a team, the instructor and members of this class will work together to develop the talents and interests of each class member, and produce a variety show which will be performed before a live audience.

Family Musical Theatre
Some of us love to sing, others love to act, still others want to dance. Here’s an opportunity to realize your fantasy and perform on a stage! This class was conceived with families in mind, but all are welcome! Members of this class will work together and individually with the instructor and others, to develop musical theatre skills. Members will work on material from a wide variety of musicals and will assemble and present a culminating showcase which will be performed before a live audience.

Time: 1½ hour sessions


Each of the following classes are $500.00 per person, per 10 weeks. The performance classes end with a recital, show or showcase. Technical class students will help prepare technical aspects of all shows. These class descriptions are subject to change based on class dynamics.

Beginning Acting
Pre-requisite: Family Theater (recommended)
This class is for the beginning actor. It introduces a wide array of basic skills and provides opportunities to develop these skills. Emphasis is placed on professional language and concepts but activities focus on beginning level actors. Members of this class will have an opportunity to create and perform their own material as well as provided material and will participate in improvised activities.

Advanced Acting
Pre-requisite: Beginning Acting or Instructor approval
Advanced acting expands on the skills and concepts introduced in Beginning Acting by raising the level of activities and exercises done. Members of this class will also be introduced to dialects, Shakespeare, combat and other advanced level aspects of professional acting.


Children’s Theater Production
Pre-requisite: none
Children’s Theater Production is a class designed specifically for children. Students will work with the instructor to prepare and stage scenes from children’s favorite movies such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and many, many more. The class culminates with a Children’s Theater show.

Musical Theater

Masks & Puppetry
